Willow Tree Friendship Keepsake Box Value Guide

The Willow Tree Friendship Keepsake Box, designed by sculptor Susan Lordi for Demdaco between 2003 and 2005, is a cherished piece of contemporary resin art. It is highly collectible for its signature hand-carved appearance and its ability to represent intimate human emotions through minimalist design.

What affects the value of Willow Tree Friendship Keepsake Box?

• Condition of the crackle finish, as peeling or heavy staining can reduce the value below the $9-$12 range.
• Presence of the original Demdaco packaging or gift box, which appeals more to serious Willow Tree collectors.
• Structural integrity of the resin, specifically ensuring there are no chips in the delicate shell motif on the lid.
• Market demand for the specific 'Friendship' theme, which remains one of the more popular motifs in the secondary market.

How to Identify Willow Tree Friendship Keepsake Box?

• Look for the distinct 'carved-look' shell motif on the lid, which mimics the texture of original hand-sculpted clay.
• Verify the presence of the signature crackle finish on the exterior paint, a hallmark of early 2000s Willow Tree accessories.
• Check the base for the Demdaco or Susan Lordi branding marks typically found on authentic resin pieces from this era.
• Inspect the interior for the smooth, uniform resin casting characteristic of the Friendship series production.

History of Willow Tree Friendship Keepsake Box

Willow Tree is a line created by sculptor Susan Lordi and produced by Demdaco beginning in the late 1990s. Known primarily for small carved-resin figurines expressing emotion and relationships, the line expanded to themed keepsakes and accessories in the 2000s. Boxes like this one often carry the Friendship motif and were sold as collectible trinket or memory boxes.
